Thoth 2

The Egyptian god Thoth, my (user)namesake.

Thoth is the ibis god of wisdom, magic, and the moon, as well as like a hundred other things. Sort of a god-of-all-trades. His was the voice that started creation rolling, even before he himself existed (is he good or what??), and he writes down the verdict at the Final Judgement of the souls of the dead. He's nearly omniscient, but prudent enough to keep most things to himself and usually doesn't interfere in others' affairs--usually. He carries a staff topped with an eight (I know, the Egyptians didn't write it as an "8") which has magical powers. He might seem pretty detached and uninvolved, but in truth cares deeply both for his fellow gods and for mortals (whom he helps out much more than they realize).

This is my most recent sketch of Thoth--it's at least a few years old, but I still like it very much, and his head serves as my avatar on some sites.
